Stopping watch theft

I saw this video on Roman's channel about the Watch Vault where they really break it down. It seems like a positive thing and something that will hinder theft and stolen watches ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

Roman is a seemingly smart businessman and has done quite well, certainly knows his stuff, but has been associated with some super shady characters, IE TPG. I know that is not his fault, but he stood up for and by that guy for way too long, as did Thorpe. Thorpe, I have other concerns, but that is me. As a result, I would never do business with either, nevermind, the thought of giving a third party all my watch data. Firm nope.

We'll see how this goes. If enough dealers in the grey market adopt it, then eventuelly your new purchases will have been registered for you and what you sell will be verified via the platform. I believe grey market dealers are going to be the ones that either make or break the concept.

There is the rub. A system like this is more for the secondary market, and not the grey. LB is largely a secondary dealer, vs traditional grey dealer, which is a big difference. Your average watch buyer is buying directly with an AD or a grey like Jomashop, not through a secondary dealer.

Now could this be helpful for the used market? Absolutely. I think this will eventually be a service offered via the brands vs. suspect third parties.
