A Unique Titanium Watch Review

So I’m someone who likes a bit of variety in his Watch collection, so I try to keep an out for unusual pieces and this watch is definitely that. As you can see from the cover photo the case of this piece is very unusual. Vilhelm is partnered with Zelos, and you can see they took Zelos’ idea of making interesting watches and then ran with it. It’s not only the case shape that I find a bit unusual, but also what Vilhelm have done with the surfaces. The case made out of grade 2 titanium, which if not treated with some type of hardened coating can scratch easily. However, with the brushing that’s been applied to this watch the inevitable scratches should not be too visible.

This with the very wearable 40mm diameter, 45mm lug to lug and 12mm thickness makes this titanium watch very wearable as well as having a unique look, this with the 100m water resistance with a screw down crown make this watch very appealing.

Speaking about unusual looks I’ve got to talk briefly about the caseback. I really like a display caseback, I know a lot of people don’t see the point in them, but this one looks amazing.

And elevates the standard Sellita SW200 movement with a 40hr power reserve and 28800 beat rate, that comes with this watch.

Now on to the dial.

I realise that a very looking watch isn’t for everyone but I love this dial. There are only two words on this dial with relatively small text, applied indices and logo, raised minute track with hatching on the inside, between the indices and a date display at six make this a very usable and legible watch.

Now on to the negatives. When I was researching this watch I came across a review on YouTube when the reviewer talked at length about how he loved the bracelet and lugs and how it was great to find a brand that seemed to put a bit of effort into their bracelets. While I agree that brands would be helped by putting some thought into their bracelets, and it’s clear that some thought had gone into this one, the bracelet is a pain to change out. Because of the short lugs the holes for the strap are awkwardly positioned for putting on the admittedly eye catching bracelet. I’m someone who changes his watch bands out relatively often and I’ve got quite fast at it. But changing out the band here takes far too much time with far too many curse words to get right, particularly when going from rubber to metal. And this is a shame considering how nice the bracelet is, but I normally just keep the strap on. Also because of how the bracelet is articulated it can catch easily on clothing.

Another possible negative is that some might find this watch with their everyday clothes. I’m someone who goes to work in Jeans and a casual shirt so this works for me.

Overall I’m happy with this watch and would happily recommend it.
