First Watch. Restoring

Hello WC vintage collectors.

I saw a post here asking about our first watch, and it cause me to think back, and found my watch in a storage can with all of the other stuff from high school (almost 40 years ago). If I remember correctly, it was gifted to me by my neighbor, I former Vietnam veteran.

I thought it would definitely wonderful if I can restore this watch, but I don't know anything about it. The diameter is 35mm. thickness around 12mm, lug to lug around 41mm, acrylic crystal, and lug width of 19mm.

I have no watch restoration abilities so I'd send it to a watchmaker to do so. So, if you will, please help me:

  1. Watch model

  2. Movement. If not original, please recommend a modern movement that I can swap it out.

  3. Any responsible and qualified watchmakers that you've worked with. I am in the USA.

Thank you

That's a very special watch.

Timex mechanical movements are different from others. They are serviceable, but people rarely bothered to do so because the cost of the service was close to a buying a new watch.

That means it's harder to find a watchmaker who has experience servicing them, but it is doable. And undoubtedly worth it for that watch!

Here's one on ebay that might be worth buying. A lot cheaprt than a restoration but still useful for parts if you really want to restore yours.
