Breitling Navitimer Heritage

A bit random but I'd appreciate your thoughts.

9 years ago for my 40th birthday, my wife bought me this beautiful Navitimer Heritage. Its always been a grail watch for me so you can imagine how much it means to me. However saying that, over the past couple of years I've worn it less and less.

I Think the reason for this is that I struggle to see the time at a glance, I find the hands are very thin and get lost against the dial. My friend has a Chronomat that has a much broader hand set.

My question is this.......can the hands be changed from Navitimer to Chronomat?

My watch is due a service I was thinking of having this modification done at the same time.

Cheers

You should be able to swap the hands…… it’s a Breitling calibre 35 which is a modified ETA movement which may have fairly standard shafts dia’s for the hands to mount on. Unfortunately the chronomat has the in-house B01 movement in it so I don’t think the hands are interchangeable. A skilled watchmaker/ repairer should easily source a solution for you

Just had a thought, you could get the hands painted…… as they’re light they blend in with the watch dial colour, a darker more contrasting colour would make the hands stand out and make it easier to read the time……. Just a thought

I didn't know that was a possibility thanks for your suggestions. I haven't looked into who will service it for me, I follow Richard Perrett on YouTube, he makes great videos and certainly get the impression he would be a great choice.

Have you thought about having your eyesight checked? Seriously, if you had no problem with seeing the watch before, maybe a new eyeglasses/contacts prescription would bring it back to the way it was, as well as improving other aspects of your life.

I'm collecting my new glasses on Monday, but I still think the hands too thin and get lost on the dial. 🤓👍

Interesting, my Breitling Chronomat from the early 2000s has an ETA Valjoux caliber 7050 chronograph movement — are you sure they switched to an in-house movement?

Sorry your correct, I just quoted the current movement which was Breitling’s first in-house movement that was fitted from 2009 firstly in the chronomat B01

You are correct earlier models had movements sourced from the usual Swiss manufacturer’s.

I didn’t realized they moved away from ETA movements in the newer Chronomats. So I guess he would just need to source pre-2009 Chronomat hands and he should be good!
