Citizen Collection NB1050-59E

Thoughts on the new Citizen autos? I have to say, I'm sorely tempted to pull the trigger on the black iteration as pictured but also love the look of the white option.

Specs look great and as usual I am a sucker for quality at a value proposition.

I have to admit that I am interested in these new Citizen hi-beat automatics. Personally, I think the black dial looks great, and that is the one I am interested in purchasing.

The black for me too as I have a SARB035 and I am not prepared to pay the premium for the 033. Should've just bought a SARB033 when I bought The 035. Bargain at £270 a few years back. The Citizen NB1050 is without doubt a higher quality piece.

I agree, especially with the new 9000 series movement in it.

As much as i agree on value proposition, it goes back to a question where if we need to own every single watch that looks great to our eyes, no matter how good value it may be.

Serveral times i wanted to buy sarb033, even at a premium, in the end i never managed to justify having two very similar design and colourway watches in the watch box. And same goes to this one unfortunately.

And that is part of the ever present dilemma of this interest/hobby/obsession 😄

I think it's a good looking piece, definitely very versatile and appropriate for just about everything. Yet depending on where you are on your watch collecting journey, that versatility may be a good thing or a deterrent. To me, the design is too safe. Too bland to make it look special. I also wish the bracelet had female end-links.

Holding out for a Washi dial Chronomaster here.

·

Wait what?  Didn't see anything on these.  How much are they?

·

They are going for around 500USD. got a white one on the way. Was originally in the market for a SARB or SARX type of watch and discovered this. The movement, finishing, saphire, 100m wr, duratect anti-scratch coating make this a better value than anything similar Seiko is offering. The case and dial are also beautiful

What's not to like?  It's pretty much perfect.  I have a Certina somewhere which fills this niche but I'd rather have this Citizen.

late to this chat, but i pulled the trigger on this model and awaiting delivery. on paper this is the PERFECT watch for my purpose.

  • i have a GS which i am scared shitless of scratching.

  • i had an alpinist glacier which i moved on because it was too shiny and thick (13.3mm for a casual/dress),

  • i have 3 vintage watches which are not water resistant.

i love watches and wearing them day in day out. but of all the ones above, i cannot easily wear them at home and do chores, or walk out in the rain with the vintage.

this one is perfect on paper because its a looker, thin at less than 11mm, relatively compact, has a an accurate auto, and has a pretty decent lume.

my home/ errand/ dont care but love watch

How do you like it so far ? Is the dial too boring/simple in longterm or not ?

not at all. personally i love it. its simple and pairs with everything and every mood. the black dial makes the markers really shine. never a dull moment tbf
