Strap mod for Casio G-Shock GW-5000-1JF

My favorite G-Shock is the squares but the wrist strap that come on these models run the adjustment holes right out to the end of the strap and doesn’t leave any room for the keeper to hold down the end.

I knew the strap on my G-Shock GA800-1A has extra length past the last hole.

So I ordered an extra pair of straps for a GA800-1A and tried to fit them on my GW-5000-1JF. However with the screw back dome I had to trim the stabilizing hook on the ends of straps to get it to fit. I believe that would not be necessary for a DW5600 or a GWM5610 with the thinner stainless steel backplate.

It is not a perfect seamless fit, but overall I am very happy with how it turned out.

I really like the GW-5000 particularly because it has the same case design as the original G-Shocks. But I would be just as happy with the GWM5610. It is a quality G-Shock as well and I believe either one will serve you well. I was planning on purchasing the GWM5610 when I came across a good deal on a used GW-5000 and went with that one instead.
