Few months ago to surprise my 11yo son, I bought him the casio F-91W (at about the same age my dad bought me my first watch, a Casio DB digital) and to my surprise he dislike & hate wearing it !
So I asked him about his ideal "watch" ? He had set his heart on an analog blue dial with the majestic arabic numeral 12 ! Strapped with a blue steel bracelet !! ๐.. so the great watch hunt began and finally I found him the Casio MTP ..
His eyes lit up with joy the moment he set sight on it; he had found his horological soulmateโฆ he loves it .. my next task after this is to get the blue bracelet ๐..
moral of the story, never assume what kind of timepiece your child wud desire, they possess a world of imagination and ideas that can only be fathomed by their own whimsical hearts.
Now, dear Crunchers, I turn the question to you โ what watch would you choose for your precious little ones, bearing in mind that this remarkable Casio MTP cost even less than the f91w !!

The boy has taste ๐ impressive.
Excellent, start 'em young. Don't have children myself, but if I did I'd go the same route you did initially. Nice one mate ๐๐ป๐๐ป

You know it was a good choice with the F-91 I think it's what we would buy ourselves if we were 11. But as you say kids are all different. I think for me, I would take him shopping and let him buy what he likes the most even if I had to bite my tongue.

Bonding is great although I go for total embarrassment when shopping myself, although on second thoughts this may put them off watches !๐
Adorable! And yes, Casio is a perfect brand for first watches, particularly with so many vintage-sized options. Plus there are so many styles to chose from and watches to grow into, and always affordable.
Timex's quartz-analaog Time Machines line is also great for really young kids - so small, cute and legible!
