Bremont SuperMarine S300W

I was inspired by the Netflix documentary 14 Peaks, which tells the story of Nims Purja. This man climbed the 14 tallest peaks in the world  in a 7 month period.  The previous record for this feat was 7 years. Bremont was the main sponsor for this expedition and Nims was wearing this model S300W throughout the expedition.

I was an avid sport climber in my teens and twenties and have been a fan of Bremont watches for sometime now. So I had to purchase this watch and add it to the collection. I am very happy with this piece and find myself wearing it often. I love the case design and the white dial looks great with jeans and a T-shirt. I changed the rubber strap it came on for this MN style strap from The Watch Steward.

This watch keeps great time with the slim ETA 2892. Mine is +2 sec a day or less on average. The lugs hug this case and curve downward to give a very comfortable fit for all day wear. I love the 3 piece case design and find the black middle case to give a little something extra to the aesthetics. The signed crown looks great and is large enough to easily wind and set the watch. Overall I think this will be a piece that I keep and enjoy for many years to come.

I am not a big dive watch guy, but this looks pretty good.  What is the lug-to-lug?

It does seem pricey though. Retail is  $3795. A lot of competition in that range and some other good options that cost a lot less.

Price is relative, there is no doubt that there are many great watches that are in the same range. Like with most things it comes down to personal preference. The lug to lug is 49mm, but wears slightly better than that due to the downward curve.

I didn’t see the documentary but did hear this guy when he was on the Joe Rogan  podcast. He seems pretty amazing. I’d like to check out the documentary if I get the chance Cool that Bremont sponsored him. The watch must be pretty tough and durable. Website says it has hardened steel. Legibility seems good too.

I’d think about it if I were in the market for a diver but I need a new dress watch more.

Bremont builds awesome watches, and they always have great stories attached to them.  They have an unique design vocabulary.

I saw the excellent doc on Nims Purja.  As an old-school mountaineer from the 1970's & 80's, who remembers Messner's Everest without oxygen climb back in 1978, then Everest solo without oxygen in 1980, I have a huge respect for Purja's unbelievable achievement with the 14 peaks.  Climbing and mountaineering inspired acquisition of my first really good watch - a used Rolex submariner circa 1978.

Great to see your climbing gear as a background to your Bremont photo.  I still have a crate full of old rope and gear that hasn't seen much action since my last climbing trip to the sport-climbing mecca of southern Thailand in 2001.

👍 😎 👍  Cheers!

This thread is pretty old, but thought I would I would post this update since I tried on this watch today. In short, this watch wasn't for me. I kind of liked the strap design, style and build quality, but it was too long and made the watch sit way too tall on the wrist. This, I would had to immediately replace the strap if I put hard it (size 6.75 inch wrist) . I think the big thing is that the dial just doesn't do it for me. It is too plain and the symmetry is just not there with the way Bremont did the date window at 3. I'm also just not in love with the case design (trip tick or whatever they call it). It seemed well made, but it was just not for me especially at retail. Maybe it will work for someone else, especially someone with a larger wrist. Always go try these watches on before buying if you can. Happy hunting everyone.
