My new Second Hour Mandala Burst

I've had my eye on Second Hour's Mandala collection for a while now. I love the patterned dials, the thin, white outline that traces the inside edes of the indices and date window, the notched ends of the hour and minute hands, and even the three larger indices placed at the out-of-the-ordinary 4, 8, and 12 locations.

I've had it on wrist for a few days now, and really appreciate its comfort. At 40mm, the case diameter is right where I like it. Even though it has replaced my CW Twelve Ti for daily wear (temporarily), and it weighs more due to its stainless steel case and bracelet, the weight doesn't bother me at all. From a side view, the bezel, mid-case, and case back form an almost rounded shape making it quite comfortable.

I do hope Second Hour decides to upgrade the bracelet they offer for these, though. This one, at least, does not have quick-release spring bars, and even with a spring bar removal tool, it was quite a chore to remove and put the bracelet back on. I especially had a problem getting one side of a spring bar to go back in its hole (insert Happy Gilmore quote here). I actually had to use the tool to coax it back in.

I had to remove 3 links in the bracelet, and it has 4 holes on the clasp for micro-adjustment. I have it fitting to my liking for the time being, but as we're starting to go into Summer where I live, I think that's going to change. If they do consider upgrading the bracelet, I hope they also offer on-the-fly micro adjustment clasps.

It also came with a nylon strap with quick-release spring bars, I've not been able to use it yet. The nylon is just too rigid on the spring bar edge, making it very difficult to just fit between the lugs. Even after getting it to fit between the lugs, that same edge being so thick made it to where I couldn't get the spring bars to line up with their holes. I'll have to give it another shot eventually, but even if I do get them inserted, that edge on each strap will rub againts the case.

Holy crap!!!! That's an amazing piece!!!!

That dial is amazing! Also love the thin strip of green on the crown; very nice touch.

I took another shot at swapping the bracelet out with the provided nylon strap. It fits VERY tightly; so much so that it really doesn’t want to pivot at the spring bars and almost stays rigid near the watch case. Plus, I don’t think the green stripe matches the dial too well. It’s comfortable enough, but I think it’ll stay on its bracelet.

It’s still a phenomenal watch for the price and I love it.

May I ask what your wrist size is ? I am tempted by the orange Burst version but still thinking if I really want to spend that amount for one more sports/everyday watch since I have so many of this kind already.

I really think a good and comfortable fit on the wrist is key. But the issue with the nylon strap doesn't sound that good to be honest. Is the bracelet of good quality except for the lack of quick release ?

My wrist is about 7.25 inches, or a little over 18 cm. I didn’t mention before, but the end links are female and don’t seem to protrude past the lugs, so it conforms to my wrist nicely. Lug to lug length, by their measurement, is 46 mm.

The bracelet seems to be pretty good quality. There is a slight squeak from the clasp with certain wrist movements, but the bracelet itself is not very jangly. It has been very comfortable for the 4 days I’ve worn it. I pretty much haven’t taken it off. I even sleep with it on.

I decided to go for it and ordered the orange Burst. The design is unique and different enough that I think I'll enjoy it. I like complex dials and this particular one is fascinating.

The quality seems to be there, too. So all in all that justifies the purchase of one more sports watch for me. Looking forward to receive it!

Congrats. I also like the orange dial variant. I gave that some consideration, but my favorite color is green, and I had already ordered the Erebus Ascent in orange. Can’t wait to get that one on wrist.
