Longinnes watch case restoration

This case is well worn and nor really usable. The velvet lining is either missing or dried , stained and crunchy. The watch is working and in excellent condition. I am looking for opinions about restoring the case. Maybe just new velvet. I know restoration can be a negative. Thoughts ?

Polishing and new velvet would be in order but keep the old material to include it if you ever sell it.

@OldSnafu , thanks for the reply. I really would like to be able to use it. It likely would get sold at some point because kids won't want it . Is what it is.

That watch seems in good shape! The box...well...I don't think I should express what I think - other than to say that the few people I know that do box restorations would expect in payment far, far more than the actual watch is worth - and the restored box would have no value whatsoever to watch collectors (most don't like things to be altered from the original product). Good luck, though!

@TemerityB I can't argue with your assessment. No matter what I do I will keep the original parts. The piece that cradles the watch is loose. I can make a replacement and just leave the case finishing as is but clean it up. The case will be functional and protective. At least if I sell it has a case, such as it is. Thanks.
