Land, Sea & Air: The Holy Green-ity

With the latest acquisition of my Longines Zulu time; I have come to the realization that I have an all-green land, sea and air trio. I promise you that this happened organically and I never planned to have 3 green and gilt watches.

The first of these watch attained was my Seiko "Alpinist", my current favorite watch. This is one of the watches that I knew I wanted instantly from the minute I saw it. It's such a versatile piece, with its dressy-tool watch esthetic. I took this watch on a cruise in March and it was the only watch I needed. It's dressy enough for dinner; casual enough to look good with shorts and a tee and with 200m wr, I could take it in the pool and with its sapphire crystal and inner rotating bezel, its an excellent adventure/excursion companion. I think it's the best sub $800 GADA watch money could buy.

The next one of the bunch that I acquired was the Zelos Mako Ti V3. Around this time in my collecting journey I had not yet experienced a micro-brand. I stumbled upon Zelos and I feel in love with what they offered in their time pieces. These things are spec monsters, with great original designs and a cult following. These things usually sell out within minutes of every drop. I was told by someone to join their group on Facebook in order to get inside info on when drops are coming or see if someone would be willing to sell or trade one of their current Zelos. Low and behold someone was indeed selling this beauty in brand new condition. I bought it and have been in love ever since. It was my first micro brand and my first titanium watch. It's so light and comfortable. The watch came with a hardening treatment on the titanium so it has yet to develop any scratches. It still looks new. I often refer to it as my most comfortable bracelet due to it being titanium, well finished and having on-the-fly adjustments. It could also very well be the best dial I own as well. Great value for money.

And lastly my Longines Zulu Time. When the zulu time launched last year I was just starting on this journey, like the Alpinist, it's a watch I liked from day 1 of seeing it. But at that point, I couldn't see myself spending $3k for a watch, matter a fact, I haven't ever spent $3k on anything other than a car. It took me about a year and a half or so before I was able to acquire this piece. I saw someone locally was selling it used, the person had it for 5 months. It was in excellent condition with only a few desk desk scratches on the clasp and bracelet, the case was immaculate. So I bought it at about less than 2/3rd the price. Full kit, with box papers and a 4.5 year Longines warranty still intact. I love this watch and the quality far surpassed anything I have had previously. It surely has surpassed the Alpinist as my incumbent favorite watch.

The Alpinist gets a little closer to being in my collection every time I see it on here. Something about the green and gold.

Believe me, it's an excellent watch. What's good about it, too is all of the other variants are all bad ass as well. There is something within the Alpinist line for everybody.
