Reading various articles on the Internet, I'm surprised at the number of brands that have undergone name changes.
More difficult to follow than Liz Taylor marital name changes.
Wonder how many are now Googling Liz Taylor๐๐
Slightly eccentric, wicked sense of humour. Self confessed watch cheapskate, who tinkers with watches. Love motorbikes, to date, I've ridden about 250,000 miles, 113,000 of which are on my BMW 1150GS....

Had no idea
What are some good examples? I can think of Felco -> Felca -> Titoni, but very few others that have radically changed names (Waltham, Westclox, Timex). Omega wasn't always Omega, but that change happened very early in its history.
This needs elaboration - a lot of elaboration. Iโve read various articles on the internet ranges from one of dubious nature, to Iโve asked ChatGPT a question I didnโt understand the answer given, to I have memorised the entire Mikrolisk database and filled in the gapsโฆ
Weโre here now, letโs play the game - who changed their name and why is it surprising?
Wikipedia Sekonda. Sturmanskie became Poljot.

I didโฆ
So โSekondaโ as a brand has always been Sekonda. They re-badged other Russian brands watches, but itโs still Sekonda, theyโve not changed their name.
With regards to your other example Sturmanskie, Poljot, Pobeda, etcโฆ were all brands produced by the First Moscow Watch Factory. If you wish to be a pedant, then parts of the First Moscow Watch Factory were purchased by a group of former Poljot employees, forming a new company known as Volmax who market watches under a number of brands such as Shturmanskie, so Poljot technically became Shturmanskie in a very tenuous way.
I donโt understand why people feel the need to change history to form some weird narrative. Felco -> Felca -> Titoni is a good one, as is Westclox -> Timex; hell Iโll even take Heuer -> TAG Heuer at this point because itโs a clear change of logo and branding across models that were on the market at the time.
Sicura eventually became Breitling after they bought them. Sicura saw the fact that they could cash in on the Breitling name despite being far more successful as a company (you know, by being able to buy them and not being in financial difficulty and all that), and just ceased to be Sicura anymore after a period of timeโฆ Thatโs funny, and probably more fitting the brief.
Elizabeth Taylor is dead now, and has been for quite a while; I doubt sheโs marrying anyone anytime soon, let alone dating.
