Platonic ideal of a dress watch, circa 1960: 18k red gold IWC with caliber 89. Robust, precise, simple, beautiful. Something a middle-class gentleman of the period could reasonably aspire to own as part of a one to three watch collection. Unlike a gold high end watch today, or even a steel one, sadly.
