Loving watches and affording the particular object of one's desire often stand in direct opposition in many people's watch collecting. They certainly do, and on more occasions than I prefer, for me. I can't afford most of the original versions of the Seikos (and plenty of other vintage pieces) that I love, and the same goes for many of the current reissues of those designs. With a Seiko movement inside to help me feel better about the financially driven collecting choices with which I am regularly faced, this one is filling a lot of that void for me today. 😏

Think of it this way; Steeldive/Addiesdive are filling the space Seiko is giving up by moving upmarket.

Given what my personal ownership experience has been, my Steeldive watches and my San Martins (one bronze 😍) have all been outstanding. I have two Pagani Designs, one with the new NH34 GMT movement, and both extremely good examples of the brand's best work. They both keep time like they were properly regulated and all of them are extremely well finished and aligned. Given that I didn't pay more than $165 Canadian for any of them, I doubt that I could get better from Seiko directly for a similar investment.

I think you may just be right! I'm happy with mine either way 😎
