You are correct. I am surprised that more watches don't use this movement.

I think the term normally used for this is "big date". Not many watches in the affordable category do this (the likes of Teddy B and Kevin O would label the Union as affordable, but that's their twisted universe), I think I have seen a Sugess with a big date...

Glashutte Original is one and Mido just came out with a TV dial with a big date. I am sure there are other’s, I just can’t come up with them right now.

Most German Glashute watches are more expensive than others.

Why were you interested in seeing the case back? Do you have an interest in Union Glashutte?

Half out of curiosity and half because Richard Habring showed a photo of a UG movement in a talk he delivered at HSNY as an example of how others were following his lead in breaking away from stock ETA movements (out of necessity or to be able to claim a proprietary movement).

And, you can say I’m a member of the Glashütte Watch Club :D (h/t @glashuettewatchclub over on IG)

This one was made in 2014. I believe it is based on an ETA movement. I don't much about Richard Habring. He does sound like an innovator.
