42mm?

My buddy brought his 1995 moonwatch over. What a gorgeous watch. I never really saw the beauty in the watch itself, though I understood the attraction. I now see the beauty having seen it in person. I was also very surprised by how well it wore. I didn’t think I could pull off a 42mm. These pictures make it look much bigger than it wore. Dang, I think it’s been added to the list.

Same here. Seemed like everybody had one and I didn’t see the attraction (esp hesalite) but then I saw the ones at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum and I started to understand, and start looking. And then I found a good deal on a used hesalite from 2019 so now I’m just like everybody else. 🙊

I think 42 mm includes crown guards and bezel is only 40mm wide.

Is it? Any confirmation here?

Yep. If you measure without including the crown guards it's closer to 40. Then you have the really compact lugs. Which is why it wears so well.

Aha - maybe I should try it on my wrist after all.

Wears so well… i went to get a Seamaster 300 and i tried the Moonwatch on and i left with the Moonwatch. It’s a beauty and gets so many complements.

Because of very short lugs the speedy fits on smaller wrist very well. I have only 16,5cm wrist but can wear it. You have to try on the speedy. Dont trust the numerals

I always wrote off the speedy because of the 42mm size. I went into a boutique to try on an Aqua Terra and figured I would try a speedy while I was there. I was pretty underwhelmed by the AT but I fell in love with the speedy. It really is much more like a 40mm than a 42mm watch

Yep. The bezel is technically 39.7mm. It’s why it wears like a 40 and not a 42.
