Watch shipping Woes
Hello Cruchers, I have a question for you. I ordered a Rotary Watch about a week ago. I just now received a notification a little bit ago from US customs that I must give out some serious personal information (SSN among other things) for this watch to clear US customs. This is apparently the procedure for watch shipments that cost more the $2,500… the issue is the watch I bought was $300, and I highly doubt the shipping cost $2200+ even though it is coming from overseas (I live in USA, rotary is based in Britain) I have been prompted to fill out forms from both the shipping service rotary uses and from customs. Everything seems legit, just curious if anyone else on here has had to go through this, or if anyone has advice regarding this.

Thanks for the advice, I figured I’d update you guys on what a happened so far. After much back and forth and reading some of the official invoices, we realized the issue was that rotary accidentally stated the value of the watch at 10,099 GBP instead of 199 GBP. (I got really scared when I saw that number in the invoice as the value of the watch 😂) thankfully Rotary has been very responsive and helpful and have taken it upon themselves to make this right with customs. I’ll give you all another update once things have cleared up completely.
