Small and boring....

I suppose my "collection" (if you could even call it that) is small and boring compared to many I see here. But for one thing, I'm not into colors or precious metals! My wardrobe consists of pretty much every shade of gray through black. 🤣 My cars are gray and black. My dislike of gold even has my wedding ring made of steel. My "beater" watch is a blacked-out G-Shock.

And, for another thing, I wear watches for ME. I feel no need to flex or show something off. And the idea of wearing ten or twenty thousand dollars on my wrist appeals to me not at all. I USED to own Rolex watches when they were perhaps a bit expensive...but not priced just plain stupid. My 1655 Explorer II and my Submariner are perfectly well replaced with these Steinharts. I smile every time I look at 'em. And, for me, that's what watches are all about. I rarely carry my phone! So my wristwatches tell me the time - and do so handsomely.

I scroll these pages often and rarely see a watch I find attractive! But I LOVE to see all the varying tastes and styles that adorn people's wrists.

I do have a grail watch that niggles often in the back of my mind. It is a 1950s/60s era Rolex Explorer - Ian Fleming's watch - and the watch he gave his alter-ego James Bond in his books. Maybe someday. Maybe not. But it IS black and white...and the 007 lure is strong. 😉 In fact, my next watch will likely be a Hamilton PSR (think Roger Moore in Live and Let Die). I won't mind the splash of red LED when the button is pushed - like I don't mind the orange GMT hand on my Steinie.

So why do you all choose the watches you choose? Simple artistic attraction? Historical significance? Flexing? Investment? Mechanical fascination? Or just some ethereal feeling that says "I wanna wear THAT!"

Certainly, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I spose it isn't shocking that my favorite artistic medium is B&W photography!

What do YOU find beautiful in a watch?

Movement, history, brand. I like plain boring black dial no date 3 handers. Ruggedness & durability are important, with one of the deciding factors being at a glance legibility.

My most boring is my poshest 🤣👍

Nice trio. Sounds like you've got it figured out. Buy what you like for your own reasons.

I mostly like dark or subtle colors too, as I don't usually like to draw attention to myself. I don't put myself into any specific box as far as my collection. I tend to just buy what I like, probably a bit too impulsively.

I like a core of a few black watches with a couple fun color pieces sprinkled in.

Watches are subjective objects. If you like them you should get them. P.S. nice collection though. 😊😊😊

Thanks for the responses! I should add that my wife thinks all my watches look the same. 🙄🤣 No matter that I point out the differences, she isn't into it and doesn't get it. But she did get me that Steinhart Ocean 39 Ceramic for Christmas! Ohhhhh I love that woman. 🤣👍

Nice collection

To be honest I'm not 100% sure. Some of them just say buy me, ware me 😂

Id say mine is a small well balanced, dress, diver, digital, mechanical, automatic, moon phase, rare and common, expensive and cheap, mesh, links, leather and rubber straps.

I only treat myself to them for significant life events and memories and therefore I want the watch to be of sufficient quality for me to smile every time I look at it, and remember that moment.

Im guessing there is a little flex but not really. Only the brietling, could be considered and that's hardly, a proper flex watch. It just looked nice and the fact people would recognise it was a bonus. The others outside of that know one really knows the other brands. But they sure look good 😊
