is this a good watch?

I'd personally pass. I can't find the watch on Amazon but I have my doubts on the quality of a $45 tourbillon. For a 16 year old have you considered a cascio? If your dead set on an auto, there are better choices. I just look and there is currently a Seiko 5 on sale for $87. Me personally, unless the kid is responsible, a quartz watch is a better choice as it will be more durable than a cheap auto

I mean you can get some quality autos on aliexpress for under $100. I just picked up the Caprain Willard homage for $48

Buying an imitation tourbillon (this is NOT a tourbillon)of low quality isn't the best introduction to watch collecting.

Start with a San Martin, Steeldive, Baltany, or Pagani. They'll cost a bit more but will be a much better introduction.

I have a kid who turned 17 last week. Last summer, they said they wanted an automatic watch. They wanted an open heart or skeleton dial to see the inner workings and so I gave them a shortlist of options.

It’s from a watch brand called Berny, which is a Chinese brand that sells on AliExpress, its own website, and other sites like Amazon. Berny is generally regarded as a good low-end brand. They make some watches that are copies of more famous watches and they make some watches that are not.

The watch has worked well for my kid.

The advice I have is to be informed. Search out reviews for the watches that interest you. If you cannot find reviews of specific models, you should be able to at least find some information about the brands. Even on the low end, some brands are known for good products and some are known to make junk. $45 is a lot of money for most 16 year olds, so you want to spend it wisely.

I have 3 Forsining each one was approx. $40 I went in with the idea they would not last. That was 4 years ago. and so far are still working. Go in with the idea it's only $45. If it was $100 I wouldn't buy it. I am unsure of movement and we'll see how much long I have with them. I do like the look. Good luck.
