NOS vs. Not so NOS

A few months back, I was able to purchase (at an absolute bargain price) a Smiths De luxe A404, new old stock. The owner mentioned that the watch was bought by his dad and sat in a drawer for decades.

Last week, I had the chance to purchase another one (for £75!), same model, but this one didn’t spend decades hidden from the sun.

Amazing to see the difference what difference UV + elements exposure can make over 50 years!

Long story short: 3am UK time, couldn’t sleep, went on eBay and saw this one, just posted, on “buy it now” from someone who didn’t seem to know what they were selling :)
