Ultrasonic cleaning for bracelets

Recently cleaned all my bracelets with an ultrasonic - pouring the water away felt a bit like this. It was vaguely horrifying how much crud built up in them.

Seems a bottle of cleaner and a cheap ultrasonic from Amazon is well worth the expense.

note - I was advised to use cold washing by a jeweller - some ultrasonic heaters will go high enough to soften nutlocking fluid in the link bolts, which is unhelpful :D

I agree completely. They are inexpensive and do a great job of cleaning bracelets. I feel that they are avery beneficial tool for any collector with multiple bracelets. Just don't try to use them to clean the watch itself.

What brand/model do you have? I’ve thought about looking into one. Did you regularly clean your watches? I wash my watches with a toothbrush and soap. Wondering how much cleaner would the ultrasonic get it.

the cheapest on you can find on Aliexpress/Amazon/eBay wil do - they are all much of a muchness. I wouldn't use them on the watch itself, unless the movement was out of the case, but for bracelets they are great. It's much more thorough than a toothbrush, as the ultrasonic waves agitate all the dirt in the spaces too small for a brush to get to. It's doing the same as you do with your brush, just at several thousandths of the scale 😄 Also awesome for jewellery as well, especialy cleaning out the settings on gemmed pieces.

Great timing with this post. I received a new ultrasonic cleaner today, the previous one was dirt cheap & unsurprisingly didn't last.

There's a lot more science to this than I had imagined in order to get the best out of the cleaner. This guy is great at explaining the process & how to get the best results.
