I have never had a problem, i find that most stores will change the buckle for free if you ask them or they see that the strap is for a gold watch. Dont know about online stores but i would guess it's the same or they will at least have an option for a gold buckle.
Never an issue either, it is knowing where to look. Lots of threads here on straps, but I am a fan of having custom straps made by a handful or so Etsy shops. You will find most will make you any strap you like with the hardware of your choosing.

Gold I’ve never had a problem with, but rose gold is difficult due to the many acceptable shades of color that fall into that category.
