Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Nekton

I struggled when looking to add a Seamaster to the collection. I really liked the modern iteration but disliked the bracelet and date.  Then came the Nekton. I believe it is one of the only models in the 300M lineup without a date and the first with a titanium bezel. Throw in the black and red motif and I had finally found the perfect Seamaster for me. I also found it wears much smaller than the measurements lead you to believe. Do you have a fave in the current lineup?

Note, for the OCD out there like me, the bezel lines up perfectly, that is just the angle of the photo.  :-)

Gorgeous!

Also love how the first thing that's always on our minds now is "bezel alignment"!

Looks really good. Ever thought of the several versions 007 Bond Omega?

I like the latest one, but for me, still over priced. Not sure I see the value in $3k-$4k over this plans even more for a regular 300m. Don’t get me wrong it‘s very cool, just not sure $9k cool.

Agreed, I like the Bond watch, at $5k. Definitely not at MSRP.

Curious how you feel about the watch 10 months later....still getting wrist time?  Timekeeping?

Would you purchase it again?

I've actually owned it for a bit longer than that, just happened to be the first post I made about it.  The watch is awesome. Still my favorite SMP300 variant, and yes that includes the Bond. If faced with the question a couple years later, I would make the same call, Nekton, no bracelet.

After a couple years, some quick thoughts;

  • I own this and a Speedy Pro, this gets more wrist time. Far more personality.
  • I've actually swam with it in the ocean (no serious diving) and it makes for a great ocean day watch.
  • Size is great and the Omega rubber bracelet is my favorite rubber bracelet I own.
  • The bezel action, like all SMPs, is a whole lot of meh. It works, do not get me wrong, but takes far more effort than any bezel should. If you forget to rinse it after a day at the beach, I honestly need to put rubber gloves on to gain grip to turn. When folks compare it to a Sub, this is where you feel the money difference.
  • Accuracy is solid, no issues. Full disclosure, I do not time.gov my watches, but it holds up on the timegrapher.

Really cannot go wrong with a SMP300 and you have your choice of colors, etc. I prefer a no date and this combo simply spoke to me more than any other.

Thanks for your detailed answer. I pulled the trigger last night and should have on wrist on Tuesday.  I bought from a reputable resale dealer.  It's a full kit on rubber originally purchased in May of '22.  One thing, the one I bought has the deployant style clasp instead of the pin and buckle, I'm not complaining at all but did Omega start putting them on that clasp system or do you think the original owner swapped straps and clasp?

Thanks and Happy Friday!
