LanQue from Tianjin Watch Factory (1970s/80s?)

The watch is a very kind gift to the AMCHPR collection from a WUS member, Henry5010.

My working assumption, especially given the ground out case back where a Sea-Gull or Tianjin logo might have been, is, like we've learned about Tianjin branded watches, Lanque is probably another more affordable brand created by Tianjin Sea-Gull for the use of...not first choice...parts.

One piece of evidence is that the balance cock is not striped like the rest of the movement, but it is equally cleanly finished. I think it's far more likely it left the factory like that than it is a watchmaker replaced it. I might be wrong.

Tianjin branded watches had pretty nice applied logos, and this is just printed, so that also might be an indicator of sub-grade. Still, it has a dust shield, so someone cared :-)

Runs fine, too, and I really like the dial. Reminds me of my old lined foolscap days.

Tianjin brand is listed on this wall at the Museum at the Tianjin Sea-Gull Watch Factory, but Lan-que 蓝雀 (bluebird) isn't.
