Bawang, from Zhengzhou Watch Factory (1980s?)

17 jewel SN2. SN2s are usually found as 9 jewel movements, but even the 17 jewel still retains the very basic utilitarian finishing of the lower jewelled variant.

Along with Sea-Gull's ST5 and Diamond/Zuanshi's SM1A, SN2s were exempted from the nationally mandated 1970s switch to production of the Tongji/standard movement.

They were exempted because they provided a still reliable but more affordable alternative to higher priced brands.

I have huge respect for SN2s. My experience with them (I have a few variants) has been extremely good. Easy day and a half to two days power reserve, well within sensible accuracy expectations for very affordable vintage watch, and day to day durable.

At the time it was purchased, Taobao. But there are Chinese sellers on Ebay who also find and sell items like this.
