Turtles all the way down....

Turns out I was wrong; it is turtles all the way down! (The A in SLA stands for A'Tuin).

Anybody else seem to be gathering watches of similar models? Inside your collection have you got a sub-collection of Aqua Terras, moonswatches or subbies?

Let's see them.

I'm not surprised! The 313 looks amazing...surely that little red dot, particularly on this watch, is the most effective use of colour. I love it too...I'm trying hard not to buy buy one at the moment. 40-41mm is just about as small as I can go, so not an ideal size for me.

So to each their own 'til we go home

To other realms our souls must roam

To and through the myth that we all call space and time

Animal Planet tip of the day. A group of turtles is called a bale. Here's mine!

Sweet Goldie bling!

A fun watch indeed!

Here are four Hamilton British military watches, one 6bb and three W10’s. Can you spot the 6bb😂

And only two turtles I’m afraid to say🙂

Yeah, the little red dot is effective at giving just the right amount of pop! Enough to draw your eye. Same as the red-tipped second hand of the KFA.

I don't want to fuel the fire if you're trying to not buy one but they do wear light and comfortable! I'd say to try one. I don't know how big your wrist is but I feel this one could be pulled off by most. It seems wide enough to give presence to larger wrists but short enough that it's not overwhelming to smaller wrists. Those crafty guys at Seiko know how to work proportions.

I didn't really intend for this discussion to be a turtles only tribute, so thank you so much for sharing your broad arrow Hamilton's with us...and, er, second from the left? 🤔. I have been tempted so often to look at a watch from the dirty dozen but I just don't know enough, I feel more than a little exposed in that particular vintage arena.

Yes it’s quite obvious when you look closely, the W10’s are all 1973 and the 6bb is 74. I’m guessing it’s just the year and not the fact it s a 6bb which gives it a slightly different dial.

Here are a few of my RECORD dirty dozens, original dial on the left, MoD dial in the middle and Nato dial on the right.

Thank you, they are great watches and very wearable which I do often.

I took a bit of a risk and bought them all unworking, they were all serviceable and just needed new balance staffs and they keep great time, the NATO dial plus 4 seconds a day.

And thanks I love the SLA051, is yours a SLA049?

That's a level of repair that I wouldn't really take on at the moment (maybe a little more practice (and equipment)) and I'll get there...but it's great to see somebody is taking it on. If ever there's a group of watches that deserve every chance it's these.

Yes, mine's the SLA049...I love it, but I do all these turtles...the SRPJ51 may be my fave (second one back).
