Them Changes, Pt. 1

The Change, Pt. 1: And now, we approach the moment North American watch/clock freaks brace themselves for: returning to Standard Time. Yes, it's true that next to no sane individual is deeply in love with the back-and-forth ordeal of Daylight Savings Time, and there's been talk of officially doing away with it (although Congress has been occupied with...other stuff lately). Computers, tablets and phones, of course, generally take care of themselves, as do certain watches (smart and otherwise...is it uncouth to refer to otherwise-connected watches as "gifted?"), as well as wall clocks with radio receivers - I had one a long time ago, which couldn't receive WWV's signal on a dare. Every other timepiece has to be reset manually...in the case of this household, that's a mantel clock, kitchen wall clock, microwave, and oven...and that's just downstairs. Upstairs, there's my beloved Seiko 30-Day Regulator in the hallway, wife's wall clock in her studio, table clock on her night table in the bedroom, cute little wall clock in the bathroom...and then *my* tiny atelier: Seiko world-timer table clock, two Seiko automatics in the watch winder, and four quartz watches - one Seiko, three Casio. Well, actually, only two of the Casios required my direct intervention. The third? Tune back in around 2:05 for a treat. 😁 (EDIT: Alas, can't do video here - suffice to say my Casio Edifice EQS-500 automatically changes to and from DST, and manages this without radio time-signal tech. Of course, this is also connected to its perpetual-calendar function.)

Just add an hour whenever you look at a clock, it’s fine
