In late 2017 IWC released this 50th anniversary model celebrating the Aquatimer. This 49mm watch is made of an IWC developed alloy, ceratanium (ceramic and titanium). It features a perpetual calendar with large double-digit displays for date and month and leap year display, a flyback chronograph with column wheel and vertical clutch timing up to 12 hours, and an impressive 68 hour power reserve. Limited to 50 pieces, this watch retailed for $46,800.
I first noticed this watch on Getty Images when trying to figure out what watch Jurgen Klopp, coach of Liverpool FC, wears. I love the fact that he went for something from the German-speaking part of Switzerland in Schaffhausen instead of a Lange or Sinn or Glashutte Originale. A few things I personally like about this watch are the red accents on the "bezel" and the honeycomb shape on the digital date/month displays. It feels like IWC took a page out of Lange's design language, including the lumen models, because you can see the other numerals through the honeycomb holes.
IWC actually released a very similar looking watch earlier under the Ingenieur line. Hodinkee has an article on it, and Tim Mosso did a video on it.
