[IWOTD] Interesting Watch of the Day #1 - Girard-Perregaux (Scuderia Ferrari) Foudroyante Rattrapante

First as a partnership with Scuderia Ferrari, Girard-Perregaux launched this split second chronograph in 1999 with an eighth of a second counter at 9 o'clock to celebrate 70 years of racing cars. From what I could find, they released this watch in limited quantities in different metals:

100 in platinum

100 in titanium

150 in rose gold

150 in white gold

250 in yellow gold

In 2012, they released a non SF branded version in steel with dauphine hands.

The movement is a heavily modified Valjoux 7750 to include a split second module and column wheel with a lateral clutch (according to Tim Mosso)

Is the Foudroyante linked to the chronograph?  Or in other words, will it stop when the chronograph is stopped?  Very interesting combination of complications.  Thanks for sharing.

Yes, it is linked to the chronograph. Because there's no running seconds, the foudroyante can only be tied to the chronograph. I was finally able to source a clip of someone resetting the chrono and both foudroyante and split seconds hands reset to zero
