Tissot Heritage Petite Second on grey Perlon.

I love vintage inspired watches. A manual wind light dialed watch with Arabic numerals and a sub seconds dial that isn’t squeezed up against the center stack is a dream come true. The domed sapphire crystal is very dramatic. I love the thin leaf shaped hands that reach all the way to the minute track. The clarity is superb. The expansive see though caseback allows appreciation for the large Unitas based ETA 6498.

The best part is that it is shockingly affordable. I mean, if you’re into watches at all, it might be at least worth your while to consider adding a 6498 in your collection at this price. It’s a pocket watch movement on your wrist in a mid century package. How cool is that?

The downside is that it’s 42mm - all dial. People joke about dinner plates on wrists and while this is not quite that, a smaller size would be appreciated. (The new Laco Bremerhaven 39 is on my radar.)

The movement has nice striping and blued screws with the mainspring barrel and crown wheel (I believe) remaining blasted. It’s nice, but one can buy a better finished 6498 on eBay for a digestible price. A possible future movement swap perhaps?

I don’t wear this too often but it embodies almost everything I appreciate about mid century watches, so it’s a keeper.
