Watches in Developing Countries of India and Asia

I come from India, a country where the $30-$50 watch market thrives. Being a developing country, this is the market that is going in India. Brands like Titan, Casio, Timex, Maxima, FastTrack, etc rule the roost. Then you have Chinese-made Smart watches that thrive here. This again is in the under $50-60 bracket. In my country, Seiko's are considered a luxury by most and are sold in high-end stores. In North America and Europe, Seiko, Citizen, and Tissot may be considered beginners, but in my country, these are still watches preferred by the rich. While celebrities do wear expensive watches beginning from $1000 to probably 1 million Dollars, this is a dream for most people. Posting here for your information for you to get to know about my country and parts of Asia in general.

India needs a Amazon or Aliexpress type marketplace to sell internationally. HMT is pretty much only on Ebay and does not sell internationally.

Yes agreed. However, it all depends on PPP Purchasing Power Parity and Per Capita Income which is low. So power and desire to purchase watches also depends on that.

Recently returned from a month-long visit to the Philippines. They have two domestically manufactured micro-brands there that I am aware of; Ibarra and DeGuzman & Company. Ibarra is more to the dress/casual end of the spectrum, while DeGuzman is more diver/sporty. Both very nice!

Not to mention that many Timex models are manufactured in Cebu City, PH 😎

a huge part of Amazon and Ebay is dropshipping. India need more because it is not represented internationally very well. For some reason a lot of stuff has to go through a broker who adds a lot of cost to it.

Many brands like Timex, Titan, Maxima, Fossil manufacture in india. Many of the models sold here are manufactured locally. There can be a mix as well where models manufactured in other countries are sold here. Titan is a licensee for Tommy Hilfiger and Police Watches in India. They also manufacture Coach, Lee Cooper, etc. Titan is listed on the Indian Stock Exchanges
