MB&F Pet Peeve anyone?

I have to start with I adore MB&F watches and everything that they stand for and there is no doubt that they makes some of the best watches and few brands have done what they have for the entire industry and I hold them in the highest regard. I also am a huge fan of the open dial/ open heart architecture type watches - GO Panomatic inverse (own it), Moritz Grossman Backpage, and a huge fan of the bridges on the legacy machine lines.

With that out-of-the-way, I have to talk about a pet peeve of mine on their Legacy Machines line, i.e. the balance wheel and specifically the placement on how it partially covers the lower 1/4th portion of the time dial. For me, the most important part of any watch is telling the time and I love a clean and unobstructed view of the time. Now, I’m not an engineer or any expert on the mechanics but wouldn’t it be great if we get the same balance week and bridge but not placed elsewhere on the dial so as not to cover the time wheel? Anyone with me here? What am I missing??

I hope I am not ruffling any feathers as MB&F is an independent darling and did I say I have only the highest respect for them?

Also adding, Here's the image of my GO Panomatic Inverse, very well balanced dial, and even though the running second wheel 'cuts' the time dial, it's not a constantly spinning wheel and that little change (along with the minute markers on the time wheel - significantly improves my visibility/sanity.

I don't see a technical reason why they can't. Probably the way they wanted it. Balance wheel is usually near the outside diameter of the movement.

fair - also some design geniuses at MB&F have designed this, so what do I know?

·

Isn't the watch something like 18mm thick already because the crystal is so domed to accommodate the balance wheel? if it was off centre then the crystal would have to be either asymmetric (=ugly?) or the watch would have to be insanely thick (=terrible).
