MMI Turret 300M V2

Today we review the Turret 300M V2 Dive Watch from MMI Watches.

This micro brand is killing it. So much so, that this new watch is already sold out.

It reuses the brand's popular Turret case, based on the USS Monitor turret that features a set bezel.

It is 40 mm in diameter and a comfortable 47 mm in length (“lug-to-lug”). For a diver-type watch, it is also a slim 13.6 mm thick. Plus, its cute sloping profile, which follows the curve of one's wrist, makes it look even smaller once it is worn.

Of the four new colour combinations, the “Sand Black” version that we are presenting today is without a doubt his favourite. Its dial has an almost tropical tone with reflections and lumen that seem to show some patina.

The biggest difference from V1 is the “Rota-Wheel” date complication, now also more visible thanks to an application of luminescent paint on the date marker.

MMI has also added an ion-plated steel insert (instead of aluminum), which is up to eight times more resistant to corrosion and wear than traditional stainless steel.

Like its predecessor, the Turret 300M V2's crown and case back are screw-down, providing 300 m of water resistance.

The V2 sports a flat sapphire crystal with a laudable 10 layers of AR on the underside. Its lumen is Super-LumiNova C3 grade X1 and it is equipped with the NH35A, SEIKO's workhorse caliber.

The stainless steel bracelet tapers from 22 mm at the lugs to 20 mm at the milled clasp.

The Turret 300M V2 is an almost perfect diver, prioritising functionality, but with innovative little extras like the “Rota-Wheel” date complication and ion-plated bezel.

It is aesthetically simple in its symmetry, but deceptively attractive at the same time.

As a whole, the Turret case is a success, as well as being versatile. But when you consider the price, $288 (€266), it's hard to imagine a better value proposition on the market.
