The watch that got me TikTok famous

So this happened a couple years ago. At the time I was traveling between NYC and Florida for work. Im in NYC and had a couple hours to kill so I’m like let’s go check out some eye candy.

I head down to Watches of Switzerland in SoHo. I’m waiting outside and a gentleman wearing a Tudor GMT approaches me, he asks if can take a video of me explaining my watch.

I honestly didn’t think much of it, the watch isn’t worth that much money, I’m just excited someone is interested in my watch.

So I’m like sure and proceed to explain all I know about the watch. I figured he’s just some random guy and go about my day, I honestly forget this even happened.

Fast forward a couple weeks and one of my co-workers comes up to me and says “I saw you on TikTok!” I’m like, there’s no way I don’t have a TikTok. She’s like yeah way, I saw you on TikTok and it’s got tons of views!

Now at this point, I’m getting worried, I use to live pretty wild….

After a couple more back and forths she finally says “you were talking about a watch!”.

That’s when it all clicked and I understood what was happening 🤣

She showed me this video on TikTok which got 66k likes and 1k shares. Apparently the guy that interviewed me has a decent following and does this all over the city.

Honestly, it was a really positive experience; It seems like most people who were engaging with the content seemed to be ‘normies’. It’s nice to have a watch that truly starts conversations.

Weirdly, 75% of time it’s women who approach me wanting to know more about my watch. Go figure 🤔

The watch is an Ernest Borrel cocktail time. This is an in-house movement and although the company has changed hands a couple times since, they do still produce these styles of movements.
