That was fast: Timex Marlin Moonphase arrived

Ordered and received within 5 days.

The watch has wrist presence. 40mm case is not overwhelming with the day, date, month and moonphase complications. The case is thin at 12mm, but the domed acrylic lens adds height not mentioned on the website description.

The case is smooth with plenty of polished surfaces. Nothing brushed, so be cautious of bumps and scratches. Hands and indices are gloss black, with noticeable lume on the hour & minute hands only. You gotta have real good vision to see the day, date, and month text. 🔎 The light plays well off the polished dial, slightly curved towards the edge, with sunburst small complication rings.

The Triple Calendar provides lots of information, but it doesn’t look too busy; no more overwhelming than a tachymeter. The crown adjusts time (of course), but also the month and moonphase. The day of the week is adjusted with the 24 hour cycle of time, so that complication is the longest to set. The date is easiest with the pusher at 2 o’clock, which I guess will only be used 5 times a year (on the months with less than 31 days). I heard that the moonphase cycle is only 28 days, so it will not be the most accurate after several months of cycling.

The watch came with a firm leather(?) [I’m sure it’s synthetic pleather] quick release strap. I changed it to a dark blue suede leather strap to accentuate the rose gold dial, which leans more towards copper hues.

The watch is light on the wrist. More in the dressy side, but approachable for everyday wear. The rose gold dial will garner subtle attention. It does look more lux than a simple colorway. I’d say it’s a significant upgrade from the other blue or green dials…
