That's what I learned from those two watches.
I used to dismiss a watch before seeing/trying it in metal if I found a design detail I disliked on screen.
Those two watches have quite a few design details I dislike. To name just major ones;
Seamaster - helium escape valve, hour hand, date window, strap design
Explorer II - date window, cyclops, mercedes hand, 24h hand (love the colour but not the shape), polished sides
But somehow when I saw them in metal, they grew on me, and I came to love them.
I still don't love the design details mentioned above but I came to love the watch as a whole.
Unfortunately, this rarely happens. I love Grand Seiko in 44GS case but I cannot get over the date window.
Do you have any watch you dislike the details of but love as a whole?

Anything with a date window. Absolutely hate that pointless complication. But some of my favourites feature it - Aqua Terra, Willard.. any diver .
Cyclops. Only willing to make one exception on that detail if I ever get a chance to buy the polar explorer 2. Any other watch and it’s a deal breaker 😁

I hate it too😂
I can only live with it on Explorer II. But I do not know why😆
Practically it’s nice to have cyclops as I can’t read date without it with my aging eyes🤣
True, but like @Inkitatus I don’t ever use the date complication. I rarely even set the date on my watches because it’s of no use to me 👍
The B-Navitimer or Montbrilliant Datora: too messy with too much detail; but so impressive... 👑
I like all of my watches as they are. I don't buy something with a feature or design detail I dislike. I have the white dial Explorer and I really like everything that you dislike! Lol. To each his own!
