I’ve had a hankering for a solar watch for a while, but I find the usual suspects like Casio & Citizen just ugly. And I hate the name ‘citizen’ for a watch. It feels utterly impersonal. Possibly I’m weird.
But joy! Quite a few of these Bering designs really appeal to me, and at a nice price. I rarely wear my quartz watch (Timex Charlie Brown) because I have a fetish about having a teeny-tiny spring-driven machine on my wrist. I really do.
But like most of us, I trust, I’m not a person who won’t see interest or beauty in a watch that isn’t mechanical. My ex-wife’s favourite watch was a Swatch with a bracelet that I bought her. It looked great on her. She wore it until it fell apart.
The next watch I bought her she threw out her car window into a ravine on her way either to or from work. Ahem.
Born and raised on the Caribbean island of Aruba. Love watches, some simple some complicated, some cheap, some expensive, some heavy some light. Living life on island time.

That’s cool! I’ve never seen that watch before. Even the name is unfamiliar to me. Is it mechanical? What movement, I wonder?
