My humble Collection as of Today

I’ve been collecting watches for a very long time, although mostly casual and style oriented. But even as a kid, I was always sporting a watch, from a Boy London, to a Shark Freestyle or a Casio Baby G.

As time has passed, my collection has slowly grown, evolved, and been affected by my different jobs (brokerage, banking, tech, and retail) and their corresponding “dress codes”.

As of today, this is what my collection looks like, from oldest personal purchase(2000) to most recent (2023):

  1. Swatch Irony Chrono YCS4011

  2. Casio A158WA-1R

  3. Victorinox Chrono Classic 24140

  4. Timex Weekender 40 Crono

  5. Boca MMXII Grand Traveler Beige

  6. Duke Pembroke

  7. Mougin & Piquard Chronovintage

  8. G-Shock GA-2100 SKE-7ACR

  9. Timex Waterbury Ocean Legacy

  10. Seiko SNXS79

  11. Vulcain Nautique Skindiver

  12. Christopher Ward C63 Celsest

It’s only recently that I’ve gone deeper into the rabbit hole, learning about watch movements, manufacturing, and design.

This brought me to a moment in time, after becoming a father, where I thought I wanted to buy a “luxury” watch, I even reached out to the community for some advice. However, I’ve decided to take a slower approach before any “big” purchases.

I’ve bought two watches since that post, a Vulcain and a Christopher Ward.

I’ve discovered my tastes have changed- for example I prefer smaller watches for my 16.5cm (6.5in), and simpler designs. Also I have found fascination in smaller brands, some of the ones on my radar for next purchases: VPC, Baltic, Lorie, Farer, Maen, and Serica. And of course I’ve fallen in love with mechanical movements (today only 3 of my watches are automatic, and none are hand wound).

I expect my collection will continue to change and evolve for quite some time before I make that “big” or “legacy” purchase, or maybe my idea of that end state will change completely. Who knows!

I’ve only set one rule for myself- this 12 slot box is the limit. If I want something new, something must leave.

I would love to hear your watch collection stories. How has your journey changed?

I hope you all have a great day!
