Legit check on a vintage Certina

Hello everyone!

It's my first time buying a vintage watch and since I'm new to this world I wanted to have some more opinions on the matter. I don't want to end up buying a frankenwatch.

I'm looking to buy this vintage Certina but I'm not sure about a couple of things. The serial number is this:

5206 149 8542214

Where:

  • 52: Identifies the movement, which is the Certina 25-66 and it seems to be all good. No issue here.

  • 06: Identiefies the case material, yellow gold plated with steel caseback. This matches as well.

  • 149: Identiefies the model. I've found no information on this.

  • 8542214: The serial number. This should mean that the watch it's from 1971, but the owner claims it's from 1965.

These two last points leave me kind of unsure about the legitimate origin of the watch. I'm not sure about the case as well. What do you think about it?

If you are curious, I've found in-depth info on vintage Certina watches here: https://www.vintagecertinas.ch/en/home-en/

Beautiful watch. Certinas from that time are something special. Unfortunately i can't really help you with that.
