Easter egg in the movie “In Time”

In the not-too-distant future the aging gene has been switched off. To avoid overpopulation, time has become the currency and the way people pay for luxuries and necessities. The rich can live forever, while the rest try to negotiate for their immortality. A poor young man who comes into a fortune of time, though too late to help his mother from dying. He ends up on the run from a corrupt police force known as 'time keepers'.
Imagine a world where everyone is given a year of life when you reach the age of 25 and the world economy is based in exchanging time in various increments.
In this world, we don't see many people wearing watches because you're either painfully aware of how many hours, minutes, and seconds you have left to live based the digital count down glowing on your wrist or you’re hiding your wrist to avoid attracting attention to how much time you have hearing for your personal safety.
Watches do play a role, though!

Or you’re right and he’s a total watch dweeb. Who knows. Writer’s name is Andrew Niccol. Someone should see if he has any social media. Is he wearing anything nerdy?

A search on Getty images turned up just one gold watch which he wears pretty high up his wrist so I’m going to downgrade my nomination of Mr. Niccol from certifiable to has sense of humor.

I saw it years ago and thought it was fun ( I was in highschool) but I was not a watch nerd like I am now. The character list just made my jaw drop. Love it. Thanks for pointing that out!
