The Steinhart Marine Chronometer harks back to the days when a deck watch was used in conjunction with a clock set to Greenwich Mean Time and a sextant to determine a ship's longitude when out of sight of land. Long obsolete, most recently with the availability of satellite based navigation, the elegant look is still appealing.

If this came in a 38 mm case I would buy one right now , alas 42mm is too big for me and my taste with my skinny wrists. Great watch!

As the photo suggests, the watch is too large for me. Looks like I'm wearing a dinner plate on my wrist. But that's typical of deck watches. Much like traditional pilot watches they're large. I typically select watches in the 38-40mm diameter but I put up with the Steinhart for the sake of vintage accuracy.
