Aviator F Series - Lug 22 mm, (bit thick?) Strap end 20 mm

Seiko Solar (dads handed me) - Model / ??

Polo with Braided Leather strap - Lug / Strap - 18 mm

I am new to the watches landscape in terms of these micro details but I've had these or got them as gifts an I'd like to give them better love than they've received before.

I've posted these twice and not sure what else is needed to get it approved.

"Omega loopless " style, obviously the genuine Omega ones are expensive, but there's cheaper versions available, but it's specifically that style that works really well

@Inkitatus - 1st and foremost thanks for responding. Previous had zero responses apparently after 200+ views.

Please guide this newbie a bit more 😄 - Muchos Gracias!

I intend to start with the cheaper variety until I know these things better as I am new to the watch wisdom & intricacies.

PS: Are you suggesting this for all 3 or for the Aviator?

Also, would the Omega type of Deployant Clasp be better for the Braided leather strap as well?

And what / how do I determine a way to attach a leather strap + deployant clasp to the Seiko Solar, given its odd sized narrow "attachment point" ? is this called Lug area?

·

You might want to look at Artem, who sells quality deployant clasps.

You can buy them on eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/186248664741?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=NZdSYZ53TgK&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=nW_kpMYLRY-&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Quality is good for the price!

You just use these to replace the standard buckle, not difficult, just a springbar.

I've even used them on NATO style straps, just put of curiosity.

Good luck 😉👍🏻

@parechute - Thank you for responding. I currently do not have a US/ EU footprint but maybe next year.

Also, I just looked them up, its too expensive for now,

  • given that I may have "mismatching" straps and

  • do not have surety of what would work with each of these 3 watches/ straps

  • and work for me.

I am trying to learn and figure out the various Deployant Clasp types, that work for different types of Leather Straps based on material, width, thickness.

@Inkitatus - Thank you. I'll look up this type as per your suggestion.

Please just clarify one thing - Would this type work for all 3 of my watches?

The thick?? Aviator & variable thickness Braided Leather Polo strap?

@Inkitatus @parechute - Went ahead with some of your insights.

  1. So, I've ordered a few from likely CN vendors to be shipped to MY. Its confusing to say the least so hopefully between the Single vs Butterfly I'll get something that works for me.

  2. Butterfly ones are easier to spot.

  3. I have a tougher time figuring out the difference between the Single Fold/ Flip clasp, that work for "non-metal" straps - some of the metal strap types look similar and confused me.

Any insights/ tips on that?

  1. On braided leather straps, (Was unable to find any example online),

  2. But I was wondering if some of the Deployant Clasps had more "thickness accommodating" attribues?

I've only tried Omega, Tudor and Seiko deployant clasps. Of those I preferred the tucked in tail looks & comfort wise. The Tudor & Seiko both point the tail the ", wrong" way - towards you rather than away.

Sorry no experience with leather, but Artem Sailcloth straps are pretty padded and thick. I really rate them .

Would like to try a Formex clasp as they have micro adjustments.

Good luck, have fun 👍🏻

Clasp for leather/rubber/sail cloths straps have this pin that goes into a hole on strap.

Rubber straps and sail cloth straps are usually thick so the clasps made for them should accommodate thick leather straps.

Having said that, I only have personal experience with ones from Omega and Artem, which are pretty similar as Artem is Omega clone, and JLC, which only works with JLC straps.
