GS SBGY007 has won! (over SBGY009)

Hi y’all,

This has been the most difficult decision that I’m facing since the day I decide to get married, that is choosing between SBGY007 & SBGY007009.

I wouldn’t call myself a collector but my collection is slowly growing to about 10 watches now, and GS has always been able to get my attention but never pulled the trigger until I saw the SBGY009 at an local AD.

Yet, another dark color dial, sigh! I’ve been wanting to add a white (or light color dial in general) to my collection due to all of the watches I’ve own it’s either has blue or black dial.

Also, the SBGY009 is has the killer 44GS case which I adore/drool over, and it is a GS signature case that I really appreciate and would love to have it in my collection, not to mentioned it being a LE, urgh!

With all that said, I’ve gone back to the AD 3 weekend in a roll giving my sales a hard time, and also torture myself during the process of holding both amazing pieces.

After countless hours I spend on YouTube watching all the videos on both watch, I’ve finally make up my mind, SBGY007 it is! I’ve picked this beautiful watch up yesterday, I’m officially a proud owner of GS now.

One thing I’m curious and wanted to ask is that the SBGY007 being a non-LE piece, how rare are they? Does anyone have a production number on a yearly basis? I’ve seen an video from an YouTuber with a video uploaded a year ago, there is about 723 pieces of the SBGY007 ever produced about a year ago, which is a very low number being a non LE watch.

And my AD is also telling me that this is the last piece they will carry, and I’m a bit surprised that being said. Can anyone confirm that even being a non LE piece, GS is still running a very low production numbers? Or if someone is interested in the piece, they can just go in an AD and place an order and just wait for it?

Thank you all in advance and I’m looking forward to any input towards this, thanks!!

Can't answer any of your questiona but wanted to congratulate you on your choice. The Omiwatari is a grail of mine and one of the few mid to upper range GS's I covet. There is nothing like that dial and the slimness of the case make this one for the ages. Enjoy!

Beautiful watch! Can't answer your questions, but I will say that I've only ever seen 1 GS in the wild. So, whether the watch is LE or not, the watch is EXCEEDINGLY rare.

Knowing it being rare always puts a big smile on my face, cheers!

That makes sense, and yea I do agree with you, that’s why I felt picking the omiwatari being non LE is still the way to go. Thanks for the input, cheers!

Congrats on the purchase. I just got mine over the holidays. Being that it is a dress watch, I wouldn't be concerned with it being massively produced. The popularity of dress watches is small compared to "everyday" type sport watches. Manufacturers would soon discontinue production of the demand isn't there. One perfect example and my next purchase is the Omega CK859. They released for about a year or so and now have discontinued production. In a way, this piece is a limited edition piece.
