How to sell at watch

I’ve never sold a watch and have anxiety selling watches. I’ve looked through Chrono, EBay, and some Chinese online websites and even shops but never have I sold a watch … 1. Is the anxiety of not getting your worth 2. The fear of hassel and complaints 3. Is a lack of knowledge of selling and negotiating … there are some watches I would never sell due to sedimental value but there are those just laying around taking up space in my watch box … what are your experiences in selling your watches and which avenue do you use?

I've only sold one watch. It was a micro that I never had the chance to try on. I try to avoid selling. That side of the hobby (trading and selling) doesn't interest me. I don't care to make money from watches. I buy to keep and generally know what I like. My goal is to keep them forever so I don't have to sell. None up for consideration to be sold after my one mistake.

Yes, that’s usually my goal too … but there are times I feel I could do better … sell the ones I don’t want to upgrade and lessen my burden for the one that I really want (at that particular moment) … but yes .. fear of selling is a thing

I think selling is fine. I’ve sold two watches on Chrono. Fairly easy transactions. Just be really honest in your descriptions. Note all the flaws. So the buyer is aware.

Just don’t expect to make profit on most of the watches you sell

I've sold a few.

At what price?

Mostly at a 40-80% loss because it's not worth holding on to an unused piece waiting for the best price or something might spontaneously break or become due for a service. Remember, lubricants dry, parts wear off and batteries die.

Where did I sell?

My local garage sale app. Active watch trade community. I always deal face-to-face and never do deliveries even for a great offer price.

Returns/disputes

Be very clear and detailed about the condition of the timepiece and your policy on returns/refunds. I don't advertise a refund policy on my sale ads but I verbally tell my buyers (always face-to-face) to check my watch to their heart's content before paying and that I will entertain a return (within 1 week) subject to receiving back in the same condition that I'm selling, or will deduct my cost of repairs before refunding if the piece is damaged. So by that clause I allow myself some time to check (send to a technician) my returned piece if it's still fine before I refund the buyer.
