Spinnaker appreciation post

After picking up a Spence on sale last week I realized I had inadvertently started a sub-collection of Spinnakers 😀Looking at these three watches, I can honestly say they cover a lot of ground, a slim every day sports watch (Spence), a bold/fun summer diver that has seen the ocean dozens of times, and a GMT that will take anything you throw at it. If you wait for sales, you can get all this for around $1k - that’s what I call value and that’s why I recommend Spinnaker more than anything else if anyone asks me for a first mechanical watch recommendation.

Let’s see you Spinnakers in action!

I love my Boettger. It's truly one of my favorite watches. I recently bought the Fleuss on sale and it felt like a total miss to me. I keep putting it on and hoping it will grow on me, but I'm really meh about it. I'm really surprised at how different I feel about two watches from the same brand.

That is a solid sub-collection. I only have one Spinnaker and will say that I like it so far. I also like that it supported the Dolphin Project.

I can see preferring the Boettger-it is so unique and special with the “floating indices”. The Fleuss has some Fifty Fathoms vibes (bezel) but is a lot more generic overall. There are some quirky limited editions based on the Fleuss, maybe those would be more interesting.

All great points. And the bezel is what attracted me on the Fleuss. Maybe I'll bond with it more once I get some more straps since that's always something I love with divers - they are so versatile. I just don't have many 22mm straps. I used to wear my 20mm and say the hell with it but I almost lost a watch doing that when the strap pulled the spring bars loose as I used the timer bezel 😒
