In need of some repair advice

Hello all, so a while ago I came across this TI Model 101 in an antique store in a bag of watches for $10. Thinking I’d just throw some batteries in it and be walking tall, having scored big time.

Well that didn’t work. I can’t seem to get anything from it. Tried cleaning the contacts and anything else I could think of.

Wondering if anyone out there knows of a way to fix this. I’ve tried looking through old forums but really no help.

Anything you think of would be greatly appreciated!!

You have to be sure it’s the right batteries, and cleaning the contacts with electronics cleaner (and possibly a scrape with a fibre glass or steel brush) can often work wonders.

Thanks for that. I’m pretty sure I have the right batteries (Renata 386). I did a decent cleaning but I noticed the holder for the battery doesn’t lock in place so I’m not sure if that’s causing a contact issue or not.

Try flipping the batteries, and yeah, make sure that is tight in place. My vintage LED needs its back plate in right alignment, and I changed the angle of them slightly to push the batteries into proper contact.

Edit: had another look, and that efiniteky needs to be in middle to make a circuit.

Right on! Thank you for your input. Later today I will try some different things. I’d love to get it to work bc it’s a fun piece.
