Grandpa Watches

Anyone else have a good grandpa watch to share?

8 or so years back my grandfather passed and I was given his 1978 Seiko. I polished the crystal off a bit and it looks great. The dial has a bit of a gray sunburst effect that’s more muted than it looks in this pic. It’s a nice 36mm, that gold rehaut is pretty cool and the bracelet is all jangly like a dinky old bracelet should be. My grandfather was a penny pincher for sure, and I say that with nothing but reverence, this is a really fun little watch.

My grandpa owned two watches. A real Daytona and a fake one. He wore the fake far more often because he said it kept better time! Hahaha. Now that he’s passed, my cousin owns the real and I own the fake. I don’t wear it at all because I don’t want to support counterfeit watches, but I got it serviced and it runs just fine now.

It’s worth far more to me than any real Rolex could be. I cherish this item and the memory of my dear grandfather!
