I think a new love affair is starting

This arrived at my house today: new to me 2021 SBGA415 in good condition. Bracelet has a few scuffs, but I removed it and will be looking for a new strap (darn that 21mm lug width!), likely one of the dlugs. I put it on a strap that I had around the house, a Bark and Jack leather strap (only a 20mm, but used the 21 lug bars from the bracelet). The brown surprisingly warms up the watch quite a bit.

That blue seconds hand, running smoothly!

Am looking forward to the experience!

Such a beautiful piece. This will probably be my next watch.

It’s now been on my wrist for all of 36 hours, but I do have a few first impressions:

  • Super comfortable

  • Elegant feeling on wrist, even with leather strap. The Bark and Jack strap is just a placeholder until I buy something else, so I told myself, but I am warming up to how it feels/looks on this particular strap.

  • More subtle dial than I expected. Legibility is a bit more challenging than my other watches due to the lack of contrast of the polished hands against the gorgeous grey dial. It’s my first watch where a legibility challenge is actually sort of a thing, especially inside without bright lights. Where other watches (speedmaster, datejust and most of my others) I see the time as soon as I see the watch, with the SBGA415, I sometimes have to look at the watch and move the dial a bit to see the time clearly. Jury is out on if I like this or not, but i’m leaning towards thinking it’s part of the charm, I think.

  • Box crystal adds light and character

  • Blue seconds hand, running in smooth circles, is so wonderful

  • The font of the date is subtle and really actually quite pleasing. it’s a wonderful choice full of character that adds but doesn’t distract.

  • The polished hour indices and hands really do play delightfully in the light, in a much more subtle way than my fluted bezel datejust does.

  • It (quietly) screams understated excellence, craftsmanship and beauty. I love that part of this watch.

  • I LOVE how accurate the Spring Drive is (so far)

Congratulations, welcome in the Taisetsu gang! 😍

Mostly I agree with you at every point. It's been a bit more than two months I have it. I don't have any problems with the bracelet, even though it has no micro adjustment feature, but if you find a matching strap you love, it adds a lot to the look! 😍

I do love that it's considered as a dress watch, but I don't really feel it when I wear it in sweatpants and hoodies either, as you said, "it (quietly) screams" that it's a high-end beautiful watch. It doesn't attract attraction from the other side of the street, but if you look at it closely, you'll see it's something exceptional.

Wear it with joy and good health brother! 🤝😎
