I'm a big fan of this series, so when there was a good shot of Lance (Toby Jones) wearing a Lorus Lumibrite at the beginning of the last episode of the second season, I just had to screencap it.
The Lorus RJ655AX9 is currently half the price in Argos than it is on Amazon, if you feel like buying one.
I already have a "lumibrite" in the form of an AK Homme with the same luminous dial. I didn't even know the Lorus was a thing at the time, and of course, Infantry and Soki make even cheaper versions too.
In other news, I've just bought a Detectorists t-shirt and will probably buy a metal detector later for no good reason at all. Actually, I should get one just to find all the springbars I've lost over the years, but that's another story.
I also noticed that Sophie (Aimee-Ffion Edwards) wears what could be a small Casio, but she nearly always has the dial on the inside of her wrist, so it's hard to tell.
I'd guess that it's a Casio LA670WEGA-9EF.
If you haven't ever watched The Detectorists, you should. It's one of the better gentle British comedies. There aren't a lot of watches in it, and Mackenzie Crook who plays the lead character Andy doesn't wear a watch at all, but their various collecting obsessions remind me of our own.
Here's another shot of Lance's Lorus all illuminated from episode two of the the third season:

Didn’t know Armin Zola was into Lorus🤪
It is an under appreciated show - and 'gentle' is a great way to describe it. Thanks for reminding me of it.
Fun series 👏
Mackenzie Crook is a genius. The show really captures some of the absurdities of the lives of these middle aged men in small English towns, whilst venerating the history behind the towns and their (tiny) place within it. “This Country” and his other show for children about Worzell Gummidge also show a deep appreciation of nature. I agree it is a very pleasant slow burn.
That Lorus is just the sort of watch you’d expect Lance to wear. Like his tools (wipe with an oily rag before putting away), he’s probably got a nightly procedure for wiping down the watch and putting it to bed.
If Lance wears the Lorus, what would the Dirt Sharks/AntiquiSearchers/Terra Firma/Simon and Garfunkel wear?
I’m thinking either an all metal g shock or an Apple Watch.
We should speculate about this more.
I'm going to watch the series again later to see if I can spot anything. I missed Terry's watch too, but I think it's a Rotary.
That would be about right.
I'll see if I can spot something on some YouTube clips later!
I've only recently started noticing watches on TV. I am currently mesmerised by Patrick Grant's Cartier Santos on the Great British Sewing Bee!
Your a genius at spotting these TV watches @casiodean , if I am not shouting at the telly I am falling asleep in front of it. How do you get the screen shots ?
I'm after one of Lance's lumibrites has I've a Casio version, pretty cool watch for everyday use...anyone got one on here & a review perhaps?? Thanks marco.
