We are repositioning Louis Vuitton as a general super-high-end brand in the watch sector overall.

The new Tambour line is physical proof of the brand’s strategic shift. The timepieces range from $18,000 to $52,000

So gone are the days when you could walk into any Louis Vuitton boutique and buy a fashion-oriented men’s quartz watch for $4,000 to $5,000.

It’s definitely a good thing to reinvent yourself, but we have to give it some time to see its effects

They acquired La Fabrique du Temps, no? Must have been a while ago, so they were dabbling in the very, very, very high end of things already. They had some quite nice offerings for a while. The Tambour spin time used an interesting module I think.

I like that they are cutting the crap completely though. I hope LV, Hermes, Chanel and others bring some life into the watch design world which seems to be re-issue after re-issue. That has to end.
